OUR VETERANS
Our veterans are our company’s “Classic Collection”. Many of them took part in the defence of Moscow and Russia during the Great Patriotic War, and in its reconstruction during the difficult post-war years, they erected unique buildings and conducted the mass residential housing programme.
At Glavmosstroy we respect our veterans and listen to them. Today many of them are taking the rest they so well deserve, but still keep in touch with Glavmosstroy – the Glavmosstroy building on Tverskaya street is like a home to them. The older generation of Glavmosstroy workers are united in a veterans’ organisation headed by Valentin Nikolaevich Galitskiy – formerly the first Deputy of the Head of Glavmosstroy. V. N. Galitskiy was closely involved in introducing industrial assembly-line construction and the construction carried out on the Peschanaya Streets in the 1950’s – this is still one of the best areas of Moscow. The management of the company shows constant care for its veterans, providing medical services to veterans in the clinics and hospital of Glavmosstroy, as well as sanatorium holidays and help with buying expensive medicines.
The Council of Veterans, together with the Union organisation, plans outings to the theatre. They hold gatherings on Victory Day, Older generation Day, International Women’s day on 8th March, Defender of the Fatherland Day, and our own Construction Workers’ Day.
Joint meetings are held by the Council of Veterans with the Council of Young Graduates, where the former share their knowledge and experience in construction and in life more generally. The veterans teach young employees to love their profession, to be untiring in work, to create a healthy, creative atmosphere in the group, to feel responsible to the cause which they serve.
